SOLARIS OPENS 

The newly launched hall, with an area of over 7,000 square metres, is dedicated to the final assembly of buses. Until now, this production stage was carried out exclusively at the company’s plant in Bolechowo near Poznań; it will now be performed in parallel at both facilities. The new site will produce battery-electric buses from 9 up to 15 metres in length, representing the most widely sold drive type in Solaris’s portfolio.

The new facility will increase Solaris’s production capacity by approximately 500 vehicles per year, enabling total output and sales to reach around 2,000 vehicles annually. 

The inauguration of the new hall in Środa Wielkopolska brought together a wide group of guests, including representatives of the Wielkopolska regional authorities, Środa County, and the municipality of Środa Wielkopolska, as well as institutions responsible for regional development, spatial planning, and environmental protection. The event was also attended by company representatives, business partners, and media. 

The meeting provided an opportunity to present the scale of the investment and Solaris’s further development plans. The new production stage was officially launched with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, after which guests toured the modern assembly hall and viewed buses under construction. 

In 2025, Solaris delivered a record 1,631 buses and trolleybuses to customers, achieving its highest-ever revenue of EUR 1.183 billion. The company was also the leading European supplier of electric buses to public transport operators between 2012 and 2025. Its strategic plans focus on further strengthening its position as a leader in European e-mobility and expanding production capacity. This pace of growth and ambition requires continued investment, making the new facility a key milestone on that path. 

The new plant in Środa Wielkopolska represents an important development not only for the company, but also for the Wielkopolska region, which has served as Solaris’s competence centre for nearly three decades. This is where the company’s key assets are located, including R&D capabilities, production sites, logistics hubs, and service centres. 

Around 300 people have been employed at the new facility, working in two shifts. The team includes assemblers, electricians, production engineers, logistics specialists, and experts in advanced zero-emission bus technologies. 

The expansion of Solaris’s operations is also expected to generate several hundred additional jobs among suppliers, technology partners, and contractors operating in the region. 

During the ceremony, company representatives also announced a further investment. Solaris has secured over 47 hectares of land in the Środa Wielkopolska municipality, where a new, even larger production facility is planned.

The new plant is expected to include production of intercity buses. The investment is projected to create around 1,000 new jobs, with operational readiness targeted for 2029.
