URBINO 10,5 ELECTRIC MAKES ITS DEBUT

WITH THE SUSTAINABLE BUS AWARD 2026

Every two years Brussels becomes the capital of the global bus industry. Busworld is not only the largest exhibition of public transport vehicles in Europe, but also a place where innovations are showcased that set the course for the future of urban mobility. This year, all eyes were on Solaris and its latest model – the Urbino 10,5 electric, unveiled on October 3.

SOLARIS MAKES A STRONG IMPRESSION

Solaris opened Busworld 2025 with a strong statement. The Urbino 10,5 electric, premiered in Brussels, received the prestigious Sustainable Bus Award 2026 in the “Urban” category. On the day of its first public presentation, the jury recognized the vehicle’s innovative design, its contribution to the development of sustainable public transport, and its alignment with the needs of fleet operators.

AGILITY AND CAPACITY COMBINED

The new model was designed with cities in mind – those in need of flexible transport solutions. At just 10.5 meters long, it can carry up to 85 passengers, a record-setting figure in its class. A turning radius of less than 17 meters gives the bus remarkable manoeuvrability, even in crowded urban centers. Key drive components were distributed across different parts of the vehicle, eliminating the traditional engine tower and freeing up extra space for passengers. The result: an optimized weight distribution, more comfort, and up to 33 seats available.

ENERGY FOR THE ENTIRE DAY

One of the biggest advantages of the Urbino 10,5 electric is its range. The bus can be fitted with Solaris High Energy batteries with a capacity of over 400 kWh, enabling it to cover more than 600 kilometers on a single charge according to eSORT tests. In practice, this means a full day of operation without recharging. Flexibility is ensured by the option of plug-in charging or pantograph. A new-generation synchronous motor with an output of  240 kW guarantees smooth, dynamic driving even at full load.

COMFORT AND SAFETY

The Urbino 10,5 electric was created to support drivers and passengers in all conditions. The new model complies with GSR2 regulations and offers a comprehensive ADAS package. Among the features are blind-spot monitoring, intelligent speed assistance, sensors detecting pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle, as well as systems warning of collisions or driver fatigue.

SUSTAINABILITY IN PRACTICE

From the very beginning, Solaris focused on ecology and cost efficiency. The new bus achieves almost 97% recyclability. Its design is based on the standardization of parts and modules already proven in other Urbino models, which translates into easier servicing, simpler fleet management, and reduced operational costs. Operators also benefit from the eSConnect platform, enabling remote diagnostics and in-depth data analysis to optimize energy use.

SOLARIS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

The debut of the Urbino 10,5 electric complements Solaris’ offer – the widest zero-emission portfolio of city buses in Europe, ranging from 9 to 24 meters and covering battery-electric buses, hydrogen buses, and trolleybuses. At Busworld 2025, Solaris is also showcasing two other award-winning models: the Urbino 18 hydrogen, “Bus of the Year 2025”, and the Urbino 12 electric, winner of the “Sustainable Bus Award 2025.” Together, they illustrate the direction of European public transport: modern, emission-free, and city-friendly.

But Busworld is not just a vehicle exhibition – it is also a forum of conferences, debates, and expert meetings that every two years set the stage for discussions about the future of mobility. Solaris is actively engaged in this part of the event as well, taking part in presentations and discussions on the development of zero-emission technologies in public transport.
