ARE BATTERY BUSEs
SAFE?
Solaris on #UITP23
Jakub Jóźwiak, After Sales Director at Solaris, spoke during the Spotlight Forum session with a particularly important topic, which is battery safety.
The second expert speech prepared by Solaris for this year’s UITP was delivered by Jakub Jóźwiak:
Are battery buses safe?
Ten years of experience in implementing large-scale electric bus fleets
When considering the safety aspect in the use of batteries in buses, it is crucial that the applied technical solutions take into account all three levels: both the entire vehicle, individual systems and individual components.
Among the most important legal acts establishing regulations in the field of safety in the use of traction batteries, it is worth mentioning two in particular. UN/ECE Regulation No. 100 specifies safety issues in relation to the electric power train of buses – with particular attention to traction batteries. UN/ECE Regulation No. 10 is applied to the subject of electromagnetic compatibility – the ability of a particular electrical or electronic device to operate correctly in an electromagnetic environment.
