SOLARIS OPENS
CANADIAN CHAPTER
TROLLEYBUSES FOR VANCOUVER
Solaris is taking another important step towards expansion in the North American market. The company has signed its first contract to supply trolleybuses to Canada. The agreement with Vancouver’s public transport operator, TransLink, includes the delivery of 107 12-metre trolleybuses. And this may be just the beginning – the contract also includes options for an additional 201 12-metre trolleybuses and up to 204 articulated 18-metre vehicles.

TRANSLINK – A SUSTAINABILITY LEADER IN VANCOUVER
TransLink, officially known as the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority, is the main public transport operator in the Metro Vancouver region. The authority manages not only a bus fleet but also the SkyTrain rapid transit system, the SeaBus ferry service, and active transportation infrastructure such as cycling and pedestrian routes. TransLink is consistently expanding its network toward climate neutrality – its Climate Action Strategy sets out a target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. One of the key pillars of this transformation is fleet electrification, and the order for Solaris trolleybuses fits perfectly into this plan.

SOLARIS – EUROPEAN LEADER, GLOBAL BRAND ON THE RISE
To date, Solaris has delivered more than 5,500 zero-emission vehicles to 24 countries, including battery-electric buses, hydrogen buses, and trolleybuses. In 2024, the company held over 60% of the European trolleybus market. So far, more than 2,200 trolleybuses have rolled out of the company’s factory.
The brand, which has enjoyed recognition in Europe for years, is steadily working toward becoming a key provider of zero-emission buses in North America as well. Solaris is widely known for the quality and performance of its battery, hydrogen, and trolleybus models – and now it’s ready to bring that proven technology to Canadian operators.
This contract marks a breakthrough for Solaris and proves our commitment to becoming a leading supplier of zero-emission vehicles in North America. We are grateful to TransLink for their trust. This order has the potential to become the largest contract in our company’s history.
