Over the past year, we focused on growing our company, strengthening our market position, and preparing for the future. The figures presented by CEO Javier Iriarte during the annual press conference speak for themselves!

1. WE DRIVE SUSTAINABLE CITIES

SALES

In 2024, we delivered a total of 1,525 vehicles, marking an increase in sales compared to the previous year.

It is worth highlighting that the vast majority of contracts fulfilled by our company last year involved the delivery of fully zero-emission or low-emission vehicles. Vehicles equipped with alternative drives – battery- and hydrogen-powered, trolleybuses, and hybrid buses – reached a record share of our total sales, accounting for as much as 83% of all units delivered. This share includes 544 electric buses, a record-breaking 259 hydrogen buses, and 180 trolleybuses, all of which played a significant role in shaping the company’s zero-emission sales mix.

MARKET SHARES

The growing share of low- and zero-emission vehicles in Solaris’ sales structure reflects a strong understanding of the market and the ability to adapt to its demands. Europe is experiencing a rapid increase in the adoption of e-mobility solutions in public transport. Thanks to continuous innovation and the implementation of new technologies, Solaris remains among the leading manufacturers of zero-emission city buses in Europe.

Since 2012, we have delivered more zero-emission buses to European cities than any other manufacturer — a total of 3,074 vehicles, which accounts for nearly 14% of all zero-emission buses operating on European roads.

In 2024 alone, Solaris ranked second in zero-emission bus deliveries, supplying 705 zero-emission buses to customers across Europe.

It is worth noting that a significant portion of these deliveries were hydrogen buses. This market segment is growing rapidly and more than doubled in size compared to the previous year. Solaris has been the undisputed leader in this field since 2019. In 2024, we strengthened our position by delivering 245 Urbino hydrogen buses to European cities, securing an impressive 69% market share.

2. WE DRIVE ZERO-EMISSION IMPACT

KEY DELIVERIES

Last year, we delivered our products to customers in 12 countries. The main recipients of Solaris vehicles were operators from Italy, Poland, Germany, Romania, Sweden, and Spain. Among the largest contracts completed in 2024 were the following deliveries:

NEARLY 600 SOLARIS BUSES AND TROLLEYBUSES FOR ITALY

KEY CONTRACTS

We closed 2024 with a solid backlog, comprising over 1,600 secured vehicles with a total value exceeding €1.4 billion. The vast majority of these orders – as much as 92% – are for low- or zero-emission vehicles. Among the most important contracts are:

  • An order for 96 Solaris electric buses for public transport in Utrecht, placed by Transdev Nederland.
  • An order for 46 Solaris electric buses (19 Urbino 12 electric and 27 Urbino 15 LE electric) placed by Keolis Sverige for the Dalarna region in Sweden.
  • A tender for the delivery of up to 45 articulated Urbino 24 electric buses for Liège, Belgium.
  • A contract for the delivery of 30 electric buses (26 Urbino 12 electric and 4 Urbino 18 electric models) to Arriva in the Netherlands, which will operate in the West Brabant region.
  • A purchase of 22 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses by Île-de-France Mobilités in France, supported by CATP (Centrale d’Achat du Transport Public).
  • A contract for 20 hydrogen buses (9 Urbino 12 hydrogen and 11 Urbino 18 hydrogen models) signed with RVK Köln in Germany.
  • First Solaris contract in the USA – with King County Metro, which provides transport services for Seattle, Washington, and 34 other cities. The agreement includes two 40-foot electric buses and two 60-foot articulated ones, with an option for 12 additional vehicles. The buses will be based on a platform specifically designed for the North American market, fully compliant with U.S. regulations, including FMVSS and ADA.

INDUSTRY AWARDS

The year 2024 was also significant for our company in terms of receiving important and prestigious industry awards.

  • In September 2024, the international jury of the Bus of the Year competition awarded the title Bus of the Year 2025 to the Solaris Urbino 18 hydrogen. This is the second such title for a Solaris vehicle and the first time in the history of the competition – held since 1989 – that a hydrogen-powered bus has won the award. In 2017, the prestigious title was awarded to the Solaris Urbino 12 electric – a battery-powered bus.

  • The battery-powered Urbino 12 electric with a modular drive system was awarded the Sustainable Bus Award 2025 in the “City Bus” category in October 2024. The Sustainable Bus Award is an international competition that honors the most innovative and sustainable buses and coaches introduced to the European market.

3. WE GROW TO DRIVE THE FUTURE

FINANCIAL RESULTS

Record-breaking sales of advanced, alternative-drive vehicles contributed to equally record-breaking revenues in 2024. Solaris generated revenues of €927 million, representing an increase of over 13% compared to the previous year.

PRODUCT

In 2024, we carried out a number of key projects as part of our research and development activities. Among them, a major milestone was the launch of serial production of the Solaris Urbino 18 electric with a modular electric drive system. This model, which combines increased passenger capacity with extended range, is a significant enhancement to our product portfolio. At the same time, we optimized the design of the Solaris Urbino 12 electric with a modular drive in terms of material costs and energy consumption. The project concluded with type approval, and the launch of sales resulted in the first customer orders.

We also continued our work on cybersecurity at the vehicle level, implementing a modern management system in compliance with UN regulations 155 and 156. In 2024, we received official certification confirming our company’s and products’ compliance with cybersecurity and software oversight requirements.

Additionally, we continued R&D efforts related to our entry into the U.S. and Canadian markets, as well as the development of zero-emission intercity buses for the European market.

In 2024, Solaris became the first company in the world to develop and obtain a battery passport for an electric bus. The first vehicle equipped with this document was the Solaris Urbino 18 electric, delivered to BVG in Berlin. The battery passport is a digital document containing detailed information on the origin and composition of the battery, supporting responsible raw material management. Solaris provided this innovation three years ahead of EU regulations, which will require battery passports starting in 2027.

We also continued environmental impact assessments of our products — in 2024, the Urbino 18 hydrogen was evaluated. In the coming years, we plan to obtain Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for all vehicle types.

In 2024, we published the fourth Solaris Sustainability Report, summarizing the company’s ESG efforts and demonstrating our commitment to promoting sustainability across all areas of operation.

Our ESG initiatives were recognized in several prestigious competitions, including: the Silver CSR Leaf awarded by Polityka weekly, the Platinum ESG Innovator Award in the “Environment” category, and the Diamond Planet Award in the “Net-Zero Promoter” category as part of the Together for the Planet competition.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

4. NEW PATHS OF DEVELOPMENT

The year 2024 was a period of significant achievements for Solaris Bus & Coach, reaffirming the company’s position as a leader in the zero-emission bus market. We sold a total of 1,525 vehicles, representing a 4.7% increase compared to 2023. This success contributed to the group reaching €927 million in revenue, a rise of over 13% year-on-year. Impressively, battery-electric buses, hydrogen buses, trolleybuses, and hybrid vehicles made up a record-breaking 83% of our sales structure in 2024.

Among the key milestones was our first contract for the delivery of electric buses to the U.S. market, marking an important step in our expansion into zero-emission transportation in North America. Additionally, Solaris became the first company in the world to launch serial production of a bus equipped with a battery passport – the Solaris Urbino 18 electric, which joined the fleet of BVG in Berlin. Moreover, the Urbino 18 hydrogen bus was named City Bus of the Year 2025 in a prestigious international industry competition, underlining the company’s innovation and excellence in sustainable transportation.
